D800 Short(ish) Film Debut!

Hey everyone!  This is just going to be a quick one:

Over the past few months, I have been using my D800 to shoot what was intended to be a short film.  The film started out as a very simple short film to test out the capabilities of the D800 and quickly turned into a production all its own thanks to the collaborations I received from my wonderful cast.  More inside.

New Sigma Lenses Announced, and one hinted at!

As you may have read in a previous post, Sigma has announced three new lenses today.  And, Sigma's US site seems to hint at another arriving shortly, probably at Photokina next week.

The Sigma Revolution

I always love getting an email from Sigma.  As much of as a Nikon fanboy as I am, I admittedly love Sigma as a company.  Sigma's top-end lenses are simply incredible for the most part.  I have owned one copy of every class of Macro lens Sigma currently makes besides the new 180mm F/2.8 macro and many, many others over the years.

Currently, I'm lusting over the Sigma 120-300mm F/2.8 OS.  Lucky, and partly unluckily, for me, Sigma has just announced a redesign of said lens!  I'm very excited to see what the company has come up with for the redesign inside the brand new, and quite sexy, exterior.

Along with the 120-300mm, they've also announced a 35mm F/1.4 and a new 17-70mm F/2.8-4 Macro lens.

D800 Short Film - We All Fall Down (Teaser Trailer)

Well, there will be an extensive post in the future about the whole experience of filming this, as well as my impressions of the D800 as a video camera, behind-the-scenes photos and videos.  There's lots more to come in the very near future.  But, just to fill the time, here is a very short, extremely non-specific teaser-trailer for the film:

Nikno 1 J2 and new kit lens to be announced soon.

With all the mirrorless systems out there including incredible setups from Olympus (specifically their OM-D)  and Sony, alongside Panasonic, Samsung, Pentax, and now Canon with their announcement of the EOS-M, it's easy to miss Nikon's 1-series system amongst the rest (especially since there's only 4 lenses dedicated to the system as of yet).  First and foremost, I shoot with a DSLR.  I haven't owned a point-and-shoot since cell phone cameras started becoming more convenient, and I'm honestly not too well-versed in the world of the EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens) cameras.  But, that's all about to change.
