New Sigma Lenses Announced, and one hinted at!

As you may have read in a previous post, Sigma has announced three new lenses today.  And, Sigma's US site seems to hint at another arriving shortly, probably at Photokina next week.

Read more:

First off, part of their Contemporary line, the Sigma 17-70mm F/2.8-4 DC OS HSM Macro

From Sigma:

Mainly used for general-purpose photography, this everyday lens covers a range equivalent to 25.5-105mm on a 35mm camera. A large-aperture lens that opens up to F2.8, it's surprisingly compact in size. Great for treasured snapshots of travel or family occasions, it also handles shots that are a little bit more creative. Designed to be the kind of lens you carry around with you all the time, it delivers simplicity and is so user-friendly it's sure to satisfy even the most demanding of users.

Second, as part of their Art line, the 35mm F/1.4 DG HSM

NOTE the incredible resolution capabilities.

And, lucky last, the Sigma 120-300mm F/2.8 DG OS HSM

Quite the performer, I'd say.
Although high-function digital cameras now deliver improved picture quality at high-ISO settings, adjusting your lens to a large aperture is still the most effective strategy for action shots. And even if you have to take the shots from a less-than-ideal position, as is so often the case when shooting sports or on-stage action, this zoom lens, with its maximum focal length of 300mm, lets you open up the aperture all the way to F2.8. In other words, when conditions are difficult, this high-performance lens gives you more scope to express yourself in the shots you take.

And , as for the hinted-at fourth lens, we have the Sigma 50mm F/1.4 DG HSM

So far, this is all we have to go off of:
Clicking on the link to the new lens, you're brought to a layout exactly like the "old"/current lens, only with the "Photo Unavailable" photo instead of a real photograph.  It looks like we'll be paying about $50 more for the new one, MSRP.  But, that's all the information we're given.  The current version is such a stellar performer, I can't wait to see what the redesign brings.  It will likely be added to Sigma's new "Art" series of lenses.  Guess we'll find out in the days and weeks to come.

  1. Probably a new 50-150 2.8 lens.

    1. Honestly, I doubt it. Not just yet at least. The reiteration of the 50-150 is still relatively new, and I don't think it's honestly in that great of a demand at the moment for an upgrade.
